Rising Stars: Meet Trinity Cox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trinity Cox.

Trinity Cox

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
If I go way, way back, I started in South Florida at a performing arts magnet middle school. From 6th grade to 12th, I danced and studied dance as codified techniques and a future career aspiration. From there, I applied and was accepted into a school I’d never even heard of. I became a founding dance major at Alabama State University, graduated magna cum laude and two days after graduation I boarded a plane to live on Martha’s Vineyard for half of the year. I worked with an amazing dance festival, and some months later I began work as a guest artist with Ballethnic Dance Company in East Point, GA. My first professional dance company role was ‘Arabian Princess’. A couple of years later, I was hired as a dancer with Watershed Dance Theater, hanging out and dancing in Buckhead and Roswell. That was a time!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth because it has been far from conventional. When you are born with a passion that develops into big dreams it comes naturally to want the path of everyone you’re watching. It seems like the only way, While not the easiest to digest, my journey has certainly led me to mind-blowing, top-tier dance experiences that I couldn’t make up in 100 years. The toughest part of having a career many don’t understand, or most people where I’m from don’t see or hear of, is following and obeying the voice of God regardless of anything else going on.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
If we’re emphasizing Trinity, who dances my work has an eclectic foundation, but the bulk of my dancing career has been classical ballet. I am also a very passionate teacher of dance and dance writing (I have a pretty cool blog named The Artist Impression). I cover topics people may not be excited to dive into. I share my unpopular opinions and perspectives on the world and profession of dance from an angle that provokes dancers to become avid thinkers and preservers of this beloved art. I also say things others won’t. I am also a dance career coach. I help college, pre-professional, and early-career dancers maximize their current training and leverage it into the dance career of their dreams.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Don’t allow the fears and doubts of others to cause you to shrink your vision or minimize your dream.
