Today we’d like to introduce you to Quamay Don George.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Consistency can trump passion and talent and to my humble surprise, I have all of those attributes. I must also give thanks to everyone who’s been involved in my journey so far. I must remind everyone that I came from Florida with dreams to be an artist and now the universe turned me into something I didn’t expect. I’ve always been ahead of my time with fashion but now I’m breaking the norm and setting my own lane up. God is good.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road I will say hasn’t been the most smooth. Many obstacles may find its way in your path such as financial problems like losing my job earlier this year. Or losing a roommate because of irresponsible actions. Also, just moved to another place of residence and learning new skills, and my area takes time. However, all in all I will always persevere because without the struggle their wouldn’t be progress.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Fashion Designer, photographer, Creative Director, motivational speaker, model, poet and more. I specialize in creating brands and aesthetics for leisure and marketing purposes. Also, I designed 1 of 1 apparel for all genders. I am known for basically being the trend setter of the world basically I’m a fashion guru. I’m known for always showing up with a certain unique and style about me. I am proud of how far I’ve come from starting off in 2019 to now having several fashion shows.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My biggest advice is to move with comfort but also move with intent. It’s okay to be in a room you feel uncomfortable in, but it’s not okay to feel uneasy about a situation because if it’s your passion, people will try to take advantage of you. Also, don’t be afraid of no, and sometimes doing it alone is your biggest drive and foundation for success. Make sure to believe in yourself over anyone.
