Daily Inspiration: Meet Brian Willis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Willis.

Brian Willis

Hi Brian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born Brian Patrick Willis, affectionally known to some as DaMesngr, I was born July 12, 1985 in Atmore, Alabama. I was the last of four siblings and the only boy *male child’ I was reared by my grandmother, my mother’s mother, and was in the house with my older sibling, Ashley. My grandmother ensured that I was reared in the fear and the admonition of the Lord and frequented church, and was actively involved in the church. By her doing this, it brought me to the point of establishing a love for God and fostering a personal relationship with God based on her lifestyle and watching the examples of others. I was very shy, bashful, and seriously introverted as a child, however, as time progressed because of church, I was able to maneuver and be functional as a youth in the church. I accepted the Lord as my personal Savior, was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and subsequently filled with the Holy Ghost. After watching others operate in their calling/giftings, I began my pursuit of doing so even at a young age. I began by becoming a servant and functioning in the ministry of help. I aspired to be a Praise and Worship Leader, and my Pastor, Elder T. L. Smith, seeing that desire allowed me to do so. I didn’t know at that time that aspiration would lead me into a life of service/ministry that I’m yet doing almost 30 years later. After a few years of being a praise and worship leader in my local church, my Pastor became to unbeknownst to me, cultivate a gift that I was running from and never desired, which was preaching ministry. At that time, and contrary to popular belief until the present day, don’t care for public speaking. Hence was my humble beginnings, even while in High School, there was a Christian Club that I had the opportunity to be over and to gather those of like minds and faith together on a consistent basis.

At that time, I was provided (in-house) preaching and teaching opportunities beginning in February 1999 and consistently until March 2003. In March 2003, I was given the consent to begin sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ outside of my local church and have been doing so ever since. Opportunities have been presented itself to do all over the United States and even abroad in several islands. Ministry has taken me far and beyond my wildest dreams and far beyond Atmore, AL. I’ve been a member of one church in two locations for my entire life and, to the present day, serve both The Christ Temple Church-The House of Prayer, Atmore, AL, and The Temple of Faith-The House of Lebanon, Altamonte Springs (Orlando), FL, under the leadership of Overseer Cynthia Smith. I’ve been privileged through the ministry of Jesus Christ given to me to be a blessing to countless persons over the almost 25 years of ministry. Countless documented changes of life and impact has been noted from those who have encountered the ministry. I’ve been able to counsel, mentor, teach, train, and equip many who are operating in similar aspects of ministries now themselves. I’ve been privileged to establish our Evangelistic ministry effort, DaMesngr Evangelistic Revival Crusades, as well as our Fellowship effort, The House of Rehoboth Fellowship, which provided covering and fellowship to Pastors, Churches, Ministries, etc. I can’t take credit for who I am today, but with the help of the Lord and many others, I’ve arrived at this point in life and look for higher heights in the days to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. There have been many challenges along the way. Growing up without a Father in the home was definitely an obstacle/challenge. Being an introvert, definitely present its own set of challenges to be maneuvered through. Dealing with malicious acts of jealousy, sabotage, etc, from peers and even total strangers to prevent attempts to prevent forward movement and progress. Overcoming rumors, lies, schemes, and plots. When my mother became ill and was diagnosed with CML (Leukemia), she dealt with it for a number of years and with challenges attached until her transition in 2019. After preaching for your lifelong Pastor on a Sunday and him transitioning the following day. Also, twenty days later when your lifelong Bishop transitions as well. Having your own health challenges/scares. Losing jobs, going through eviction, and repossession. Severing of relationships that you never thought would be the case.
