Rising Stars: Meet Corwin Tuggles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corwin Tuggles.

Corwin Tuggles

Corwin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Greetings, I’m Corwin Tuggles, a former child actor hailing from Harlem, New York City. Raised by my mother, a pillar of strength. She was the one who started me in the industry. She often recounts a dream where James Earl Jones assisted in my birth, a dream that she believed foretold my future in the dramatic arts. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with major talents such as LeBron James, John Leguizamo, Anika Noni Rose, and the late great Michel K. Williams, among others. As a child, I immersed myself in acting classes and cherished classic films. My time at the renowned “Boys Choir of Harlem” enhanced my skills as a performer, and later, I attended the Professional Performing Arts High School, where I began to explore my artistic voice, delving into my emotional core to authentically and emotionally convey stories as a triple threat actor. Humbly, I can say I’m still here, still thriving in the industry after 30+ years, passionately pursuing my career as a professional actor with an unwavering dedication. #SelfMade

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being involved in the industry at a young age often means missing out on much of your childhood and maturing quickly. There are definite advantages and disadvantages to this, but that’s just the way life is. Life itself is a risk. I’ve been lucky to explore incredible places worldwide thanks to acting, which I credit to having faith in myself and my ability to dream. I wouldn’t describe my journey as entirely smooth or difficult, but I believe many actors and entertainers overlook discussing the mental health challenges inherent in achieving personal success in this field and the level of faith required. This industry is incredibly tough, filled with a ton of rejections before that significant “yes” comes along. It’s a constant ebb and flow, but you first need to acknowledge your passion for the art and comprehend your motivations.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor with a variety of national commercials, as well as appearances in several TV shows and films, including “Nick Jr.’s Backyardigans” and “Critical Thinking.” I’ve also showcased my talent in Broadway productions such as Tony Kusher’s “Caroline or Change” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” among others.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
As an actor, several characteristics are crucial to your success. Adaptability, creativity, emotional intelligence, resilience, discipline, and a willingness to take risks are all vital. Additionally, having a strong work ethic, empathy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others can significantly contribute to your success in the industry.
