Life & Work with Ice Cool

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ice Cool.

Ice Cool

Hi Ice, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Comedy has always been my thing ever since I was very young. I remember being a kid even at the age of thirteen making my family and close friends laugh. It was something special being able to connect with people by making them laugh, and having them forget about any struggles or worries they may have been facing, even if it was just for a moment.

Even as I got older, I still found so much joy and happiness in being able to bring a little relief to others through laughter. This could be close friends, classmates, or even strangers. Comedy is something that connects all of us as humans, regardless of where you come from, what you believe, where you work, your religion, etc.

If someone has had a very tough week, being able to give them a sigh of relief through laughter is not only comforting, but it is therapeutic. With that being said, comedy is not only my gift to others, but it is my “why” and passion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
LOL, I had to laugh at this question myself. Man… life has not been easy but I am blessed and grateful.

Just like all of us, I’ve had my fair share of challenges, but honestly, it has shaped me into the man I am today, and I am very proud of who I’ve become. Breaking into comedy professionally is not an easy journey. Going into it, I did not realize there were so many politics involved. A lot of it is about being in the right place at the right time, and who you know, just like many things in life.

If I’m being honest, even though comedy is my passion, currently I still have a professional career outside of comedy. Unfortunately, things have not been consistent, and these bills are lol.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known for comedy as well as acting. My signature look consists of my blue hat, which is always featured in my comedy skits or when I’m doing stand-ups. It’s funny because people always recognize me when I’m out, either by my blue hat or my blue tennis shoes.

I think what sets me apart besides my signature look is my personality. I pride myself on being a “people person” and I don’t meet a stranger. I am easy to talk to and enjoy learning about others, even if they have different backgrounds from me.

When I’m doing comedy, I specialize in making people laugh but in a way that makes them feel good. My skits and comedy specials are about everyday things that happen in life and how funny they are. A lot of them are things that have all of us very upset in those moments when they happen, but when we reflect on them we see how small they are in terms of what truly matters in life, and how we need to stop taking ourselves so seriously.

In terms of what I am most proud of currently, would be headlining my new TV series, “Chillin’ With Cool”, which is a comedy series following “Ice Cool”, playing myself as I enter my first year at a university for comedians. This is a huge and exciting opportunity for me, and I’m headed for the big screen.

I think a challenge I’m facing, along with a lot of other entertainers is learning how to navigate the “cancel culture” we’re in. Everyone is so on edge and sensitive about different topics, and it’s difficult to even speak on different world events and things that are currently happening in society due to the possibility of facing severe consequences even though it may be coming from a genuine and good place.

I invite you to follow me on my journey if you haven’t been already as the best is yet to come!

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
For me, it’s important to just stay current about what’s happening in the world, what’s happening in society and pop culture, in the comedy world, and in my community. I love to learn and stay updated about what’s going on around me, and it’s also important for me professionally so that I can be able to relate to my audience.
