Ryan and Lisa Roy’s journey with HOTWORX began when Lisa became a member before the onset of COVID-19. Lisa, drawn to the efficiency of the workouts and the convenience of virtual sessions, found herself captivated by the unique approach to fitness offered by HOTWORX. The allure of three times the calorie burns in shorter intervals, coupled with the ability to book sessions via her phone and the camaraderie of exercising with friends, made it a natural fit for her lifestyle.
Amidst the upheaval of the pandemic, the Roys underwent a career transition, prompting them to explore new ventures. Recognizing the potential in HOTWORX, they delved into the franchise opportunity. With Ryan’s background as a seasoned entrepreneur and Lisa’s passion for the product, they embarked on a journey of discovery.
Immersing themselves in the HOTWORX ethos, they were drawn not only to the innovative concept but also to the supportive culture and sustainable business model. Despite facing the challenges of finding a suitable location over 20 months, their determination remained unwavering. Finally, the opportunity to purchase an existing studio in Marietta presented itself, and the Roys seized the chance to become integral members of the community.
Now, as proprietors of the Marietta HOTWORX studio, Ryan and Lisa are poised to share their passion for health and wellness with their neighbors. Their journey epitomizes the transformative power of seizing opportunities and pursuing one’s vision of a healthier, more vibrant community.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to establishing our HOTWORX studio hasn’t been smooth by any means. Despite signing our franchise agreement and obtaining our license in March 2022, we encountered numerous hurdles along the way.
Initially, we were optimistic about securing a location and launching our brand-new studio. Shortly after, we found a promising space, only to face disappointment when the plaza opted for another tenant. This setback in July 2022 prompted us to embark on a prolonged search for alternative areas and plazas, which consumed several months of our time and effort.
Finally, in October 2022, we identified a potential space, but access to it was delayed for four months. Upon gaining entry, we realized that the square footage didn’t align with our needs, presenting a major setback. Despite investing significant time and resources into negotiations, the space proved unsuitable, leading us to terminate the agreement after nearly eight months of fruitless efforts and substantial legal expenses.
The turning point came when the opportunity to acquire the Marietta store arose. Recognizing its potential, we swiftly toured the studio and made an offer. However, the journey to finalizing the deal was far from straightforward, spanning an additional four months and presenting its unique challenges.
Ultimately, on January 6th, 2024, after navigating through a series of obstacles and setbacks, we proudly took ownership of the Marietta studio. Our journey underscores the resilience and determination required to overcome adversity in pursuit of our vision for a thriving HOTWORX community.

It wasn’t bad luck that previous deals fell through. It wasn’t good luck that the Marietta location came up for sale. Our persistence and commitment to our goals of owning a HOTWORX franchise is what got us here. Good old hard work and consistency.
