Today we’d like to introduce you to Lania West.

Lania West

Hi Lania, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I enjoyed creating beaded jewelry back in 2009 before college, but didn’t think it would be something that could catch on.

In 2016, after a rough separation, I bought a bead kit and started making bracelets for myself. By 2018, I was signing up for vendor shows all over my area and expanded to making wire jewelry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many of the struggles have been in marketing and the evolution of social media. Now with the boom of IG reels and TikTok, I’ve had to invest money and resources into content creation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started off making crystal and gemstone bracelets, but as of 2020, I’ve been dubbed the “Waistbead Lady” because of my size inclusivity and celebration of all body types. I’m proud of helping women love themselves and their bodies.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
TikTok inspires me and keeps me connected to popular culture.
