Conversations with Cyril Lancelin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyril Lancelin.

Cyril Lancelin

Cyril, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Passionate about art and architecture, I started to develop ideas for imaginary houses and artistic installations focused on a spatial experience, offering a new opinion.

My work as an architect, my culture, and my architectural impregnation fast-tracked me into the artistic field. Then, I published my first art installations on social media, and very quickly it all began. I am now working on art installations all over the world.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have to find the best balance between design, budget, equipment, and technique. It is not a smooth road, you always have to reinvent yourself and provide solutions to different matters.

Struggles are often about the timeline, you need to have this clock aspect in your mind. Sometimes idea comes fast, sometimes not, so you need to find the path that will help to move faster. For my part, I put all the keywords on a piece of paper. It helps to visualize.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I present myself today as a visual artist for my imaginary worlds.

My creations speak about dreams, spaces, and travels. Behind my creations, there is all my vision as an architecture lover. I am known for my large-scale immersive art installation. I work with different media such as stainless steel, 3d print, digital art, virtual spaces and inflatable.

I have done a lot of giant inflatable artworks. I have a new immersive inflatable that will be shown in Atlanta at the Balloon Museum exhibition. My sculptures starts a dialogue between the public and the artwork.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I like to spend time in Gardens. I love to watch evolution of plants through the seasons. I like to share those moments with my family and friends.
