Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began with the profound joy of motherhood and the realization that I wanted to instill confidence and resilience in my sons. Drawing upon my passion for storytelling and desire to empower young minds, I crafted children’s books. Initially, I started by writing stories for my children, tailored to reflect their experiences and cultural heritage.

As I witnessed my stories’ positive impact on my sons, I felt compelled to share them with a wider audience. With determination and dedication, I leaped into entrepreneurship, self-publishing my first children’s book and gradually expanding my reach through online platforms and local community events.

Through persistence and a commitment to excellence, my books gained recognition for their ability to inspire and uplift school-aged black boys. I embraced the challenges, learning and growing with each new endeavor.

Today, I am grateful to see my passion project evolve into a thriving venture with a growing collection of books that continue to touch the hearts of young readers worldwide. My journey is a testament to the power of storytelling and the importance of nurturing the potential within every child.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While my journey has been incredibly fulfilling, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Like any entrepreneurial endeavor, I encountered obstacles that tested my resilience and determination.

One of the initial struggles I faced was navigating the world of self-publishing. It required me to educate myself on various aspects of the publishing industry, from formatting to distribution, which was time-consuming and sometimes overwhelming.

Additionally, I often stretched thin as a mother, balancing the responsibilities of raising three sons and pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams. Finding the right balance between family life and work commitments was a continuous challenge that required careful time management and prioritization.

Furthermore, breaking into the competitive children’s literature market presented its hurdles. Building brand recognition and reaching my target audience amidst a sea of established authors and publishers required creative marketing strategies and perseverance.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business focuses on creating children’s books specifically tailored to celebrate and empower young black boys. I specialize in crafting engaging stories that resonate with their unique experiences, highlighting resilience, cultural pride, and self-confidence themes.

What sets my brand apart is its unwavering dedication to representing the diverse narratives and voices within the black community. Each book is thoughtfully designed to inspire and uplift black boys, providing them with characters and stories they can relate to and see themselves in.

I take immense pride in the authenticity and inclusivity of my brand. By drawing upon black boys’ rich heritage and lived experiences, I aim to create literature that affirms their identities and instills in them a sense of pride and self-worth.

I want readers to know that my brand is committed to fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment among young black boys. Through my books, workshops, and resources, I strive to equip them with the tools they need to navigate the world with confidence and resilience.

Ultimately, my goal is to positively impact young black boys’ lives, empowering them to embrace their individuality and pursue their dreams with courage and determination.
