Hidden Gems: Meet Ben Maughon of Pro Sharp

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ben Maughon.

Ben Maughon

Hi Ben, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey with Pro Sharp traces back to my roots in the butcher industry, where my dad and I worked side by side, honing our craft.

However, as COVID-19 disrupted the world, including our family business, we searched for new opportunities. During this time, my dad, drawing on our experience as butchers, suggested exploring the art of knife sharpening.

Inspired by his idea and eager to adapt to the changing circumstances, I embarked on a journey of discovery. While pursuing my studies at Georgia College and State University, I delved into the world of sharpening, learning the intricacies of the trade through online resources and hands-on practice.

With a deep-rooted understanding of the importance of sharp tools in the kitchen, I launched Pro Sharp. What started as a small endeavor quickly gained momentum, fueled by our shared passion for precision and quality craftsmanship. Today, Pro Sharp is a testament to our dedication to the craft, offering expert sharpening services to the Atlanta community and beyond.

As we continue to grow and evolve, I remain grateful for the lessons learned from my time as a butcher and the opportunity to carry on the tradition of excellence in sharpening.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating the path with Pro Sharp has been both rewarding and challenging. One of the main struggles stemmed from the continuous learning curve of sharpening new tools and blades. Each type of equipment requires a unique approach, and mastering these techniques demands time, patience, and dedication.

Moreover, distinguishing Pro Sharp from others was a hurdle in a competitive market. However, we tackled this by adopting a customer-centric approach, prioritizing exceptional service and personalized experiences. By focusing on providing the best possible sharpening service and consistently exceeding customer expectations, we’ve managed to carve out our niche in the industry.

Overall, while the journey has presented its share of obstacles, each challenge has been an opportunity for growth. With a commitment to innovation and a dedication to our customers’ needs, Pro Sharp continues to thrive in the sharpening industry.
