Today, we’d like to introduce you to Grant Wallace.
Hi Grant, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started my glass bottle recycling service because I was unimpressed with how the city handles its glass pickup. I quickly realized that I wasn’t alone when I received a lot of requests to help pick up glass from neighbors around me.
It was important for me to do this because I want to keep glass out of landfills, and I also want to make a better world for my son to grow up in. Every little bit helps, even if it’s just collecting a few bottles from neighbors. Recycling the right way will help the earth out more than you think.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, literally. There are so many potholes in Atlanta and I hit one so hard a few months ago that my trailer came apart while driving.
Luckily, I had already dropped off all my glass bottles, but driving into the city was a big wake-up call. The trailer is welded back together and stronger than ever.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Peace of Mind Glass Recycling?
My glass recycling services are offered to anyone looking for a better way to recycle their glass bottles. On my pickup route, I come by once a month and take all the bottles and jars to Strategic Materials in College Park, where they turn them back into more bottles.
Glass is infinitely recyclable and can be recycled over a million times. Alternatively, it can sit in a landfill for a million years, so it’s better to do the right thing now. For us and future generations.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Only a few people do this work in Atlanta. Glass recycling is unfortunately not as cool as I’d like it to be, but I’m on a mission to make it the bee’s knees. You’ll see!
