Meet Bianca Moore

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Moore. Bianca was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Monique Russell.

Hi Bianca, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am grateful to be a management consultant specializing in helping Fortune 500 companies optimize their operations, and I appreciate every experience that’s led me here.

Growing up, I wanted to be a dentist. When I received my results at the end of high school, I missed out on the score I needed to study dentistry by only 0.15. I was distraught. But my mum was a Careers Advisor, knew I was good at maths, and had apparently been harboring a desire to see me “in a power suit, hard hat and stilettos, standing on a job site telling the men what to do” – so she suggested I consider Engineering. I decided to take her advice and studied Engineering, then started my Engineering career in rail.

I quickly learned that I wouldn’t wear a power suit and stilettos on a job site, but that I would have lots of fun pricing, planning and delivering rail and civil projects like bridge replacements, rail replacements and level crossing reconditionings.

After 5 years in rail, I wanted some experience working in a top publicly listed company, and moved into commercial management at Transurban, a company which owns and operates toll roads. At Transurban I had the opportunity to be part of a team negotiating multi-billion dollar infrastructure deals – and I absolutely loved it.

Alongside my work at Transurban, I studied my MBA and was introduced to Kearney as part of a ‘Student Lab’ subject – where we came in and were able to deliver a project for one of Kearney’s clients. During the program I was taught how to systematically break down a problem, conduct analysis and then communicate recommendations to an executive audience. One evening, one of the partners took the time to show me around the office and chat 1:1 about what life in consulting would be like – and during our discussion I knew Kearney would be a good fit for me.

I have spent the last 4 years in the Strategic Operations practice at Kearney and most of my clients have been in the consumer products & retail and health industries. I specialize in end-to-end operational transformations and have a passion for large-scale procurement transformations.

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
The work I do at Kearney helps my clients run their businesses in the most cost-effective way. Often, this involves reviewing all of the money they pay external suppliers and helping them minimize this spend. I do this by leveraging creative demand management (using less) and cost management (paying less) levers. As you can imagine, this work is difficult. We operate at a high level and deliver complex analytics and strategic thinking on tight deadlines. My team members are all smart people – they love a challenge, and I strive to ensure they feel supported and satisfied. To do this, I make sure that we have opportunities to get to know each other, make time to share tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way, and alleviate stress by working together to prioritize the most important tasks. One of my biggest joys in consulting is sitting in a team room, all working on the same deliverable and feeling the rush of endorphins as we finish the task at hand together.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Monique Russell and Clear Communication Solutions LLC and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Clear Communication Solutions LLC.
I had the pleasure of working with Monique for executive coaching over the last 6 months.

From our very first interaction – I knew Monique and I would be a good fit. I was introduced to her profile as part of a leadership program at Kearney and added her on LinkedIn to learn more about her work. Monique immediately sent me voice messages via LinkedIn to get to know me better and to start thinking about how she could best support me. I’d never experienced anything like that before and was touched about how much effort she put into a completely new person in her life.

During our work together, Monique helped me define my brand, values, and personal and professional goals. We talked through some of my leadership challenges (one of which involved leading a team on a trek through the Gobi Desert in China as part of one of my MBA courses) and how these experiences shaped who I am today.

Monique then held me accountable to achieving my goals and brainstormed creative ideas to bring them to life. Furthermore, she was generous enough to think of me whenever additional professional opportunities arose.

Monique is a professional who always has her clients front of mind and I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to build a relationship with her. I’m confident that I have a much better chance of achieving my goals for having worked with her.
