Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ira Smith.
Hi Ira, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
“Fresh The Clown” started in 2013 when I was thinking about a hobby, and he was asked to dress up as a clown for a party. The party was a huge success, and the next thing he knew, everyone started calling to book his clown act. As the business grew, more clowns were added. The performers in the group are out to shake up the image of the circus clown.
With hip-hop music and videos, choreographed dance moves, crisp production, and a strong following around their brand — 420,000 followers on Instagram — the collective has a budding empire in the works. I now travel with the Univer Soul Circus for 10 years and have a team in Baltimore Atlanta St. Louis VA and the headquarters Detroit, MI.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Now, it’s been smooth, but the journey here was rough. I was in and out of business partners and staff, stabbing me in the back, stealing from me, and doing things that I didn’t acknowledge with my business. It was just so much, so I had to fire my whole team. You will never know who’s doing what when you are so busy out doing interviews, making moves, and building the business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an entertainer for kids I do all types of events birthday parties bet awards and showtime at the Applo. I’m known for turning up your party, I’m known for how I changed how clowns look, and I’m known for changing kids’ lives.
What I am most proud of is being the number one kid entertainment group, changing the kid’s lives around the world, and hiring kids for them to get a new look at life I’m glad to be a role model. What sets me apart from others: I’m a different kind of person, and I can give energy to anyone I’m talking to and also change a lot of people’s lives.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I took a risk by opening up my company in a different city with clowns, and I was very scared. I did not trust anyone after what happened with my business partners, so doing that was very scary for me, but it turned out to be a great move.
