Exploring Life & Business with Camille Caldwell of Maeven Media Agency

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Camille Caldwell.

Camille Caldwell

Hi Camille, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So since I was about 16 years old, I knew that I would either be an entrepreneur and work for myself or I would just have what some would consider a non-traditional job. However, in my senior year of high school, I wanted to be a journalist. So initially, I attended college and majored in Mass Media Arts and Communications.

About a year later, in 2011, my family and I moved here to Georgia, from Dayton Ohio. The HBCUs I had been accepted to just didn’t work out for me and somehow, I came across The Art Institute of Atlanta and decided to go there instead, where I majored in Advertising.

In 2012, as a student at The Art Institute of Atlanta, I also started my first blog, With Love, Cami Ariana, which was pretty much a celebrity blog, inspired by Necole Bitchie. I blogged for about 2-3 years, my blog had gotten a ton of traction, I was getting invited to events, made a ton of connections, and then decided I didn’t care about celebrities anymore and then gave up the blog.

In 2015, it was time to graduate and I also started my first graphic & web design company, Camille Ariana Graphics. In 2017. I decided I didn’t want to design anymore but I loved Public Relations, from school, so I started Camille Ariana Public Relations and worked as a publicist for about 1 year and got to work with a few celebrities.

In 2018-2019, I got to work on set as a Production Assistant for the reboot of Donnie Simpson’s Video Soul (which you can watch on BET+; shameless plug lol) and worked under the name business name Camille Ariana Media Group and also attended Strayer University online for Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship.

In 2020, I decided I was going to focus on a tech career, so I decided to learn how to code again and take UI/UX courses, while still operating Camille Ariana Media Group. While trying to focus on getting into tech, my business fell to the waste side, worked a few odd jobs. Later in 2020, rebranded Camille Ariana Media Group as Mae Maven Co to help businesses and new entrepreneurs with business formation and consulting.

Rebranded Mae Maven Co to Maeven Media Agency, a Creative Marketing Agency in October 2023, as a company where all of my work and experience can be given to my current and future clients and that will be everything from, graphic and web design, content creation, marketing, social media marketing, public relation services, branding, consulting and so much more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, being an entrepreneur is extremely ghetto lol none of us knows exactly what we’re doing but we’re doing it. To say there have been obstacles/challenges is truly an understatement. I’ve second guess myself, gone against myself, quit on myself, not had faith in myself, fought myself , dealt with friends and family not supporting me, all the things.

This journey is a mental and spiritual journey for sure. My mindset has been limiting, I haven’t thought I was worth or deserving of things before and counted myself out way too many times. This journey will test your belief and faith like never before, every day.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
