Seyan Washoma

Seyan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m currently enrolled in the psychology program at Georgia State University. Though I was born in Zimbabwe, my family moved to the United States when I was just six years old. From a young age, I’ve felt a deep-seated drive to make a positive impact on the lives of others. This passion led me to pursue a career in art therapy, a field where I can combine my love for creativity with my desire to support mental health.

Specifically, I’m drawn to working with children, recognizing the importance of early intervention and support in shaping resilient and emotionally healthy individuals. My experiences growing up in two different cultures have instilled in me a unique perspective on the complexities of human behavior and the various factors that influence mental wellness.

In the summer of 2022, I embarked on a new endeavor by launching my blog, Miracles For the Mind. Through this platform, I aim to delve into topics such as mental wellness, resilience, self-love, and the power of artistic expression in healing. It serves as both a personal journey and a resource for others seeking insights and inspiration on their own paths toward mental well-being.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since I started my blog, I have learned a lot along the way and faced a few struggles as well. I would say I had some difficulty with building an audience and being consistent with my content creation. I would say I have so many ideas that sometimes it gets difficult to know where to start. Other than that, I have been having an amazing time creating and teaching others along the way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I perceive myself as a very creative person; I draw, paint, edit videos, model, and love to write as well. I specialize in writing on my blog about mental health, self-love, self-confidence, the healing of art, and so much more. I specialize in painting to release emotions within and I prioritize the beauty behind a blank canvas.

There are endless possibilities within the life we live and there is so much beauty behind the unknown. I’m recognized for my ability to envision and actualize ideas, alongside possessing a distinctive flair for creative topics fueled by passion and drive. I stand out from others through my distinctive style of writing, which is characterized by its authenticity, depth, and originality.

With each word, I strive to convey profound insights and emotions, weaving a narrative that resonates deeply with readers. My writing is not just about conveying information but also about evoking thought, emotion, and connection. It is a reflection of my unique perspective and experiences, offering readers a glimpse into my world and leaving a lasting impact.

I’m most proud of myself for pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I used to be very self-conscious about my writing and had some self-doubt along the way. I told myself I must become comfortable in the uncomfortable. I told myself. I can’t find out where my writing will go and what changes I can make in this world unless I try.

What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is the act of sharing knowledge, especially when it helps others grow and thrive. Painting brings me immense joy as it allows me to express myself freely and tap into my creativity. Anything related to art, whether it’s visiting galleries, exploring different mediums, or simply creating, fills me with happiness and fulfillment.

I also find joy in learning new facts and expanding my understanding of the world around me. Lastly, spreading joy and positivity, whether through acts of kindness or making someone smile, brings me a deep sense of happiness and purpose.
