Today, we’d like to introduce you to Erik Harmon.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Erik Harmon, aka ClassE Beats, and I am an Atlanta-based Entrepreneur/Recording Artist/Producer/Audio Engineer. I was born in Sacramento, California, but I grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina. I am blessed to have been greatly influenced by my amazing Grandparents and Mother, who, from an early age, taught me the benefits of hard work. My Grandpa is a successful business owner, and my grandma taught me how to play the piano.
My love for music and business continued to grow. I later went on to take classical piano lessons and learn acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass guitar. In 2012, my wife gave me my first MIDI keyboard and microphone. I quickly learned how to create music on my computer using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) called FL Studio, and my music career took off from that point. I have since become a music professional and have helped thousands of recording artists make music they love.
I’ve collaborated with multi-platinum producers and the world’s biggest mobile music creation apps. This led to the creation of my hit music review show, “Song of the Night,” where independent artists have an opportunity to showcase their talent and compete in a music-based tournament.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles for me initially was knowing which path to take to become a full-time music and content creator. Along the way, there were so many things that required my attention that it was hard to decide which aspects of the business I should focus on first. I wanted to be everywhere and do everything I could to push my music career.
I soon learned that to be successful, I would need to follow the F.O.C.U.S. (Follow One Course Until Success) method to avoid burnout and disappointment. Thankfully, I have been blessed with a supportive wife and a group of like-minded business creatives who helped me to stay on track.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a full-time music producer, audio engineer, and content creator. I spend most of my time helping artists build their brands and get the professional, radio-ready sound they want for their music. I am known for my extensive music catalog, which has grown to over 1800 beats this year. I am the #1 producer on the mobile music app Rapchat and have been able to help artists create thousands of songs using this app.
I had the privilege of speaking at the 2022 Music Industry Summit at Ohio University, where I was able to share my journey as a producer and entrepreneur. I built such a strong personal brand that it has allowed me to create the “Song of the Night” platform on YouTube for up-and-coming artists. This allows me to inspire independent artists further to keep creating and give them the tools they need to grow their music careers.
Before we go, can you talk to us about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
I am always looking for local artists and businesses to collaborate with, and you can find me on all social media platforms @classebeats or email me at erik@classemusicgroup.com.
