Hi Crystina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a licensed massage therapist for 13 years. I started The Zen Den Therapeutic Massage, LLC in April of 2023. I wanted to create a safe space for clients to receive a Massage without feeling pressure to join any memberships. I am certified in several modalities.
The most recent specialty was Fertility Massage. Since infertility is on the rise, it will be a game changer to have a holistic approach to getting pregnant. Other modalities I am certified in are Pre & Post-Natal, Craniosacral, Lymphatic Drainage, Oncology Massage, Reflexology, Deep Tissue, Swedish Relaxation, Full-Body Stretch, and Trigger Point Therapy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Originally, I moved to South Carolina from New Jersey. I completely uprooted my life. Opening the Zen Den has been a dream come true. But not being from here originally had its trials and tribulations. I had to immerse myself in my new community, make new friends, network hard, and support other small local businesses.
When one of us rises, we all rise. I had to become known and established in a community that was new to me. I worked within the community to host donation drives, volunteer at events, and meet as many new people as possible.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I approach everything with positivity. What differentiates me from other spas is that I genuinely care about my client’s well-being. My clients are not just a dollar sign to me. I know their kids’ and pets’ names; I mail out their birthday cards; I know their anniversaries and where they love to vacation. Being a small business owner is so much more than just financial wealth.
Some wealth can’t be measured from a financial perspective. When you walk in for your massage session with me and are greeted by name, the small things matter most. I customize all sessions to cater to my client’s needs. No two sessions are the same. I also offer student, senior, and first responder discounts.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My biggest support team has been my mom, Carol, and my husband, Henry. I couldn’t have done this without them. They have rooted for me since day one and have always supported my dream.
Even in those days, I thought I’d never see my dream come to life.
My mom is my biggest cheerleader, forever and always. My husband keeps me grounded and level-headed when making the big and small decisions. I wouldn’t have enough time to thank my community for supporting me as I built the Zen Den. My community always shows up for me.
