Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Lindberg.
Hi Courtney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am a recent transplant from Los Angeles. My studio still operates in LA, and I travel there often as I build my client list here in Atlanta.
LIGHT was my first word as a child and has become my obsession. I picked up a camera in high school and quickly fell in love, finding a deep creative outlet behind my lens and in the dark room.
My passion for photography grew with me as did my love of storytelling. People fascinate me. I enjoy examining the human condition and the challenge of how to tell that story through images.
With a sense of humor and a deep-rooted love that is infectious, I strive to make any set/shoot simultaneously focused and joyful. I have great confidence, and this allows all a sense of security which in turn helps spawn creativity. I bring to the table an ocean of ideas but love to imagine with my clients. I am easy to play with and get along best with big dreamers that have the tenacity to bring those dreams to life.
I moved to Atlanta to be closer to my family and to raise my daughter. I have simply fallen in love with the area and all the people here.
I feel extraordinarily grateful to be able to do what I love on a daily basis and to capture such precious moments for my clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t believe any road that provides great adventure is ever smooth. There absolutely have been bumps along the way. I believe that anyone that runs their own business has gone through some challenges. It is a constant balancing act to operate a business built on a passion, and it is something they do not teach at school.
Someone once told me at the beginning, “Do what you do best and outsource the rest.” I believe following that advice has allowed for my many successes as I have surrounded myself with the very best business team that provides me the structure to thrive as an artist.
Close to two decades as a thriving artist, and I am still humbled by the challenges of being a business owner and continue to learn and grow every year.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in portraiture. I take risks and believe in making mistakes. I do not have a niche and I believe that gives me an advantage as I am always on my toes, learning new skills on each shot and using them across the board. I have learned to be fast, attentive, to read my clients so we can dive deep together, and to read a space or an event to capture it with authenticity, creativity, and mostly love.
Favorite subjects include but are not limited to Branding Sessions, Wedding, Mitzvahs, Actor and Professional Headshots, Corporate, Commercial, Family, Family Milestones, Lifestyle Newborns, Fresh 48s, Political Campaigns, Album Art, Underwater (that’s right, I love diving with my clients), Boudoir and beyond.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I am sure everyone mentions this, but AI is an absolute game changer for the photography industry, and I think in a positive way. We are already seeing how it has added to the ease of processing, editing and we can now creatively manipulate our work like never before.
Though some shout that it will replace photography, I have hope that people will always want the truth of a moment captured.
And even though our gear keeps getting cleaner, lighter, and easier to use and all the AI to create and enhance, you still need an artist behind it, framing, seeing, capturing.
