Today we’d like to introduce you to ReShaun McCree.
Hi ReShaun, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I used to drive 2 hours from Rome, GA, every day to work at Wingnuts as a side job while I was in college at Kennesaw State University. My first day was crazy! There were so many people and mind you this is my first restaurant job. Flash Forward to now; I get to manage, do business development, and build a solid relationship with every customer who walks into my store. I want to get us back like when I started. Covid really did a number on us, and we have been screaming and scratch to get back to our prime days. But things are different now, and we have to look to the future for the answer and not focus too much on what we used to have but on what we could be!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all, but that’s the beauty of it. I seek challenges and expect the unexpected. We struggled with finding honest, constant people who really understand our vision for how a wing restaurant should operate.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Wingnuts?
Business Development, Strategy, and Marketing. Just being the glue and the catalyst for something bigger. I am most proud of our social media efforts on Instagram. We have had more success there than I had ever expected. Compared to other restaurants, our culture would set us apart. We have that in abundance. We have all walks of life that come here as customers and are employed here as cashiers and cooks. It’s about a family hiring people who work well together and can build bonds not just at work but outside of these four walls.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes. Stay on course. Don’t deviate when times get hard because they won’t always be like this. We survived because we are survivors. We were the only restaurant besides Satto on our block for a while after Covid. We learned how to handle rough times, and we are prepared if another situation like that happens.
