Today we’d like to introduce you to Coco Shinele.
Hi Coco, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Shinele Naomi. I was born in Germany raised in New Jersey and NYC. I am a 27-year-old female barber who currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia. My birthday is Dec. 8th, 1996 / Sagittarius
I started cutting hair in 2016 after I gave birth to my son Camron Mavie and been doing social media content since 2020.
I started cutting hair in my 1 br apartment. Not because of finances but because I felt like I had the passion for it.
Something always told me to put my complete focus and energy in what I love. And that was making people smile!
In 2022, I finally let go of any distractions and bad energy and dedicated my time to cutting hair full-time.
With me not having any family or support at the time made it even harder to do what I felt like was my calling because of being a single mother at a young age. But I never gave up.
The engagement with my social media family and supporters warms my heart, so I started doing more content over the years, and the amount of love they show me has me lost for words.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A female barber in a male-oriented business can be critical. The first couple of years were the hardest because most men are uncomfortable with lady barbers cutting their hair. It was a process to earn their trust but I’m happy I was able to change this stereotype issue and make it easier for all female barbers.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an entrepreneur and influencer female celebrity barber and specialize in haircuts. Also have I extended my services in braids and locks. I am known for my amazing work that I perform on all social media platforms. But mostly because of my content where I do funny voiceover videos while doing hair of my brother Dejuane other influencers and celebrities, what shows my character and authenticity.
The way people see me on social media is how I am in real life.
I do it all. Cut hair, Entertainer, brand ambassador, influencer, content creator and I also model and act.
I am proud to say ‚I did it!
I worked super hard to get where I am today and never gave up in becoming a public figure. I love to hear my supporters tell me I’ve inspired them to be great and test the waters in becoming a barber and influencer.
My authentic and real, straightforward, and funny character sets me apart from others. And, of course, because I’m just nice with the clippers 😉
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
My goals for the next 5-10 years are me having an amazing barber shop and open a school for the new generation to follow my footsteps.
I will definitely grow into a big-time influencer and entertainer over those years and show as much love and support as possible.
I love to see others win, so I want to show them the way
