Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayveon Bowie.
Hi Rayveon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello, I’m a Stylist from Oklahoma City, I learned how to braid at 8 years old. I went to cosmetology in high school and graduated in May 2012. In 2013, I became a mother, which caused me to put a pause on my hair career, and I got into the medical field as a CNA, but I never lost my passion for hair. In 2019 I enrolled in The Hair Cafe Barber and Cosmetology school. Within 2 months, I was a licensed hair braider, and 3 months later, I started my LLC, Braided by Rayveon. Within 3 years I’ve worked in a barbershop, salon and I’ve had my own private suite. In March of 2023, I decided to move to Atlanta, Georgia, to expand my business and become an educator in the hair industry. I’ve gained amazing clients and it’s been such a blessing for my family and I.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The main struggle I’ve dealt with was building my brand. You have to continue perfecting your craft, and you have to love what you do as well! Another challenge was starting over when I moved to Georgia. The first 6 months were rough, but I was willing to build my clientele by promoting constantly and never giving up!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in braiding natural hair, and with extensions, I do locs as well. I’m known for hair growth, clean parts, and affordable pricing! I’m most proud of my growth and being able to be my own boss, as well as starting over in a new state. I’m different from others because of my hard work and dedication in making sure my clients are pleased with my services.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I’ve always been into beauty and fashion, whether it was playing dress up or salon with my dolls. I learned how to braid just by watching others like my mom when she use to braid my hair. I started doing my own hair when I was 12, and that led me to do others, and from that moment, I knew what I was interested in!
