Rising Stars: Meet Dazha Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dazha Anderson.

Dazha Anderson

Hi Dazha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My photography journey started while I was looking for ways to heal or make\ my inner child happy. I remember being seven years old and asking my parents for a camera. It wasn’t anything special; it was a point shoot Camera that was not disposable. I couldn’t figure out how do use it, so I didn’t. Although I never used that camera I still wonder if happiness could exist with one. I knew that on my parents’ phones and the flip phones, I received a dopamine boost from my pictures. So, when I had gotten my first job, I made a goal to get one. It took me some time, but I finally got one by my 22nd birthday, and I did a photoshoot with my friends at little five points. And the rest is history in the making.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve definitely have had some man-sized potholes and water mane breaks on my road. I’ve struggled with understanding techniques, niches, self-doubt, and plenty of others. But I’ve had to realize God wouldn’t give me the inspiration nor know how to not use my talents, skills, and abilities. I also remind myself that diamonds grow at a steady and pressured pace.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Creative Director and Photographer. I specialize in Fine Art, editorial, creative and conceptual portraiture. I am most proud of my spontaneity on set. I’ll make a plan. I have a vision board, and things do get accomplished, but I create more than what I set out to do, and that’s always encouraging. I believe wholeheartedly that is something that sets that has me a part.

What were you like growing up?
I was a helpful, caring, and inquisitive child. Who always had her head in a book. I loved reading because I was able to use my imagination to watch the stories unfold. My imagination is limitless because of my foundation. I remember training my siblings for Homemade talent shows. And planning everything from 3-part acts to seating arrangements. Or entertaining my friends with grand stories that gave them different perspectives on life. For as long as I can remember, I enjoyed the need for “why”; it always gave reason to find hidden reality. Reality that deserves to exist solemnly. And realistically, I was never loud, nor was I quiet. I knew who I could and couldn’t be around and had/have exceptional people skills. I did, am, and will forevermore have a creative soul and kindred spirit that searches for deeper meaning in everything.
