Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Clark.
Hi Chloe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’ve always had a passion for entrepreneurship, which has led me to start several businesses across different industries. Currently, I’m the owner of a pet wellness company called Simply Sage Dog Treats. The inspiration behind this business came from my adoption of a rescue puppy named Sage, who sparked the idea for our pet skincare and grooming products tailored for dogs with allergies and skin issues. Our focus is on providing natural and holistic solutions for pet owners seeking relief for their furry companions.
Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve gained valuable insights by experimenting with ideas, exploring diverse markets, and collaborating with fellow businesses. This hands-on experience has been instrumental in my success and has imparted a wealth of wisdom.
In addition to running my own business, I’m deeply committed to giving back to the community through volunteer work as a business mentor for SCORE, a national nonprofit organization. I offer guidance on various aspects of business operations, from strategy development to marketing, advertising, and product development.
To further support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners, I’ve launched a blog called BusinessAdvicefromChloeClark.com, where I share practical and authentic business advice that yields tangible results. It brings me immense joy to contribute to the growth and success of individuals in our community, whether through mentorship or by providing resources via my blog.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Mastering the art of thinking like a businessperson or having a business mindset has always presented a significant challenge, both for myself and many fellow entrepreneurs. Our society often steers us toward a consumer mentality; it’s all too easy to fall into the trap that has caused the downfall of countless business owners. Learning to navigate decisions based on market dynamics, customer needs, purchasing behaviors, product/service quality, and demand requires a thorough understanding of business fundamentals.
To break free from the consumer mindset, I had to confront some tough questions head-on: Why would someone choose my products? Who would perceive value in what I offer? And through which channels would potential customers encounter my offerings? Recognizing that these answers wouldn’t come easily, I dedicated countless hours to studying various facets of business, from strategy and sales to marketing and customer relations.
One of the greatest hurdles in business lies in not truly understanding your target audience and lacking insight into the most effective distribution channels for your products or services. Fortunately, through rigorous experimentation and testing, I was able to uncover the insights needed to drive success for my business. Now, armed with this knowledge and experience, I’m committed to sharing these invaluable lessons with my mentees and through my blog.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
While running a business is undeniably thrilling for me and something I couldn’t envision myself without, my true passion lies in educating and empowering entrepreneurs to achieve growth and success. For over six years, I’ve dedicated myself to various organizations and initiatives aimed at providing education and resources to both new and established business owners.
In 2018, I joined SCORE, a national nonprofit organization that offers mentoring, workshops, and resources to small business owners. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience, having had the opportunity to support countless business owners and maintain ongoing mentorship relationships with many of them. Some of my mentees have been with me for several years, seeking guidance as needed. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of working with a few international businesses, offering insights on target marketing and product research and development.
My approach to business education sets itself apart from the flashy content often found on platforms like YouTube and social media. While these channels may entertain, their advice often lacks substance and practicality. In contrast, my recommendations stem from real-world experience and are designed to be actionable and replicable. I steer clear of promoting get-rich-quick schemes because, as any seasoned entrepreneur knows, business success requires dedication, hard work, and a solid strategy. Those who peddle such ideas typically have ulterior motives, such as selling courses or products, rather than genuine business acumen or involvement in daily operations.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m a huge bookworm! Whether it’s for learning or pure entertainment, I find immense value in the written word. Whenever I can, I’m quick to advocate for the joys of reading. It’s been instrumental in shaping my journey to success as both a business owner and mentor. While I could easily list off a plethora of books, I’ll keep it concise by sharing my top five recommendations for fellow entrepreneurs to dive into.
