Rebecca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started in 2012 at Empire Beauty School. I was always into the beauty industry, and I wanted to learn as much as I could, so I enrolled in hair school and the rest is history.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? Not at all; the road is never smooth to get where you want to be in life, but the hard work and roadblocks make the journey worth traveling. I’m in the hair industry, and a lot of struggles that I have encountered were finding the right hair vendors, making sure my prices weren’t too high for my clients, making sure I had the top-quality hair and hair tools, and making sure I provided my clients with the best service they could possibly ever experience.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My hair collection is called The Mane Topic Collection, and it is an affordable hair company that sells quality extensions, hot tools, growth oil, lace glue, bonnets, wig caps, melt bands, and a variety of other hair products.
I am a licensed cosmologist who specializes in natural hair, color, and hair extensions. I’m known for my flawless silk presses and my long-lasting sew-ins and quickweaves. What sets me apart from others is I always do things my way and more effective. God really blessed my hands, and I make sure each one of my clients is not only satisfied with their service but also in a safe space to relax and get beautiful!
The thing I am most proud of is having my own hot tools and hair products. The Mane Topic Collection has four different-sized hot tools that give your hair the luster and shine needed with just one pass. My ManeMagic Growth Oil is also a product that I am proud of! When I was making my growth oil, I wanted to create an oil that wasn’t heavy and could help people with hair issues related to hair growth. I am proud to say that I have been getting great reviews on the ManeMagic Growth Oil since I released it!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t really like to say luck. I like to say blessings or blessed because I feel that everything is a blessing whether the outcome is good or bad. I can say that while I have been on this hair journey, I’ve had to start over many times and while others may look at starting over as bad, I like to think of it as not only getting a fresh start but learning from the past mistakes that didn’t work and altering the mishaps to work in your favor this time around.
