Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisha Peeks.
Hi Daisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I got started on my journey as an actor. During the SAG-Aftra and WAG strikes, I pivoted to more behind-the-camera work. I wrote and directed my first short film and began work as a content creator. During my content creator journey, I learned about UGC and how this style and approach to content creation was more beneficial to businesses. From there, I set out to learn all I could about the world of social media. I completed courses on Upskilist and HubSpot to get my certification in social media management. Once certified and more confident in my digital marketing skills I began to work on my portfolio and reach out to brands I wanted to collaborate with.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course not, as a creator with a smaller following I knew it would be challenging for me to compete. I, however, did not let this deter me and continued to pitch myself even though I knew rejection was inevitable.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most proud that my content creation journey led me to my current role as a Director of Marketing and Events. I specialize in content creation, UGC videos, basic graphic design, social media management, event planning, and digital marketing. I consider myself a creative/artist as I do work both behind and in front of the camera professionally.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how much Atlanta has grown in terms of the entertainment industry! However, with growth comes changes, and one thing that will probably only change for the worse is the traffic lol. Maybe with some of the plans to improve the walkability of the city, we will see less of it in the next 5 years.
