Meet Dolphin Coley of Dolphin’s Water Ice Factory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dolphin Coley.

Dolphin Coley

Hi Dolphin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’ve been in the water ice business, which is also known as the Philly Italian water ice, for over 20 years. I started the business back in Philadelphia with a water ice truck, and at that time, I purchased my water ice from a place called Morrone’s water Ice, which was a frozen dessert staple within the city. I would drive around the neighborhoods, block to block, and service the families in the community. We would also drive up to the public schools in the spring during dismissal and community parks on most hot summer days. Over time, we opened up a location in South Jersey, and now we moved the concept to Atlanta ten years on a larger scale.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I personally believe there is no such thing as a smooth road in business. You’re going to have a lot of obstacles and adversities along the way, along with financial, mental, and psychological setbacks, which can bring discouraging times, but these things are all part of the process, meaning in business, you never lose. You either win, or you learn. No matter what, you have to keep pushing forward and believe in yourself. Most importantly, keep God 1st.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Dolphin’s Water Ice Factory?
My son Dahmir along with myself run the day-to-day operations. We specialize in manufacturing assorted flavors of water ice (frozen dessert), which is an all-natural, fat-free, dairy-free, cholesterol-free, gluten-free frozen dessert that scoops smooth, similar to a consistency of a sorbet.

We also have mobile vendor setups for all occasions. We presently service Sam’s Clubs, Delta Airlines, Home Depot’s, schools, concerts, and festivals of all types with wholesale options available.

We are most proud of the manufacturing of our product and customer service, as we take pride in providing the best service, taste, presentation, and consistency.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up in Southwest Philly was rough, but just like any kid, I was just trying to figure out life and all it had to offer so I could be successful when I reached adulthood. I studied at Penn State University and also at Walnut Hill College in Philadelphia and received my Associate’s Degree in Business and Culinary Arts, and as you can see, I’m able to apply both through my business structure.
