Today we’d like to introduce you to John Dixon.
Hi John, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for entertainment. One of my fondest memories was when I was in 8th grade, performing in a school play, and the actor that I was opposite in the scene had a snafu backstage and was a little late coming out on stage. I remember improvising the line, “If you’re late like that again… you’re fired!” The audience erupted into laughter and applause. I was hooked…and knew then and there that there was no other job for me than entertaining people.
My path as an actor and entertainer has not been linear, but there has been one thru line… hard work. Whatever project that I’m lucky to be a part of… no matter how big or small… I show up on time, know my lines, and I am courteous and kind to whomever I encounter.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road of an actor and entertainer is roughly paved with a lot of bumps and potholes throughout. Even though the road is tough, the rewards are fulfilling, and I can truly have the pleasure to say, ‘“I love my job!” Over the years, I’ve also learned to love the journey and not just the end result. Allowing myself to enjoy other things in life other than my job.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an actor and musician, ranging from film/television to theater to musical albums. I love expressing my art through many different avenues, and I believe that’s what keeps me working and sets me apart from the others.
You can hear my music on any listening platform under the artist name John Dixon XV. Also, you can track all my work on IMDB under the actor name John Dixon.
What are your plans for the future?
I have always planned and dreamed of opening my own non-profit theatre, bringing theatre to those who don’t have the opportunity to attend shows regularly. Matter of fact, I minored in non-profit operations at Georgia State University. With Theatre and Acting being my major.
I have always loved giving back through my art. One of my first full-time acting jobs was for Atlanta Theatre To Go… where their mission was to bring the theatre to the elderly in various homes across Georgia.
These plans of opening up my non-profit theatre are down the road, but I am excited to continue creating the blueprint for it through harnessing my craft!
