Today we’d like to introduce you to Latif Rashad.
Latif, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Wisdom was established 2014 in Atlanta, GA Wisdom represents me, my fashion sense and lifestyle, before we speak what we wear tells a story. I am a fan of street fashion, I admire how brands that serve as a lifestyle to their consumer. Whether it was their slogan, theme or logo all of these things reflected who their consumers were or inspired to be. Creating collections that reflect our brands mission like End Rape Culture, a fashion collection built to raise awareness about sexual assault, got us recognized and featured in a GQ magazine story also a collaboration with 21 Savage.
Has it been a smooth road?
Over the years Wisdom has evolved and we as a team have evolved creatively as well as strategically in order to keep up with the changes of the company. With the fashion industry being so vast and social media adding more freedom to design expression Wisdom has grown exponentially each year. Starting our high street brand was the easy part maintaining it is the struggle for any designer. The difficulties have been designing a seasonal collection, creating some sort of guerrilla marketing around it, building a consistent team, sewing, brand fulfillment shipping, orders, packaging, books and so forth, these are the things that get more hectic as we become more successful.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our mission with Wisdom is to stylistically raise social awareness in the fashion industry. Our niche in fashion is a combination of high street and ready to wear. Our brand purpose is to continue to spark conversation with our clothing, for example our “End Rape Culture” campaign is our most successful collection. End Rape Culture is a fashion collection built to raise awareness about sexual assault, our goal is to start the conversation around the world. A portion of the proceeds from every t-shirt will benefit The Georgia Network To End Sexual Assault.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is a great place to be for music, fashion, or film. I recommend you start here Atlanta influences everything.
