We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending summer afternoons at my grandparents’ house, where they had a huge garden. I vividly remember the excitement of walking through the rows of plants, feeling the sun on my back as I picked ripe tomatoes and crisp green beans. The garden was not just a place of growth for the plants but for me as well, as I learned about nature and the joy of harvesting what you sow.
After gathering our fresh picks, I would sit under the old oak tree in the backyard, enjoying the cool shade it provided. My grandmother, after whom I am named, would bring out homemade lemonade and cookies, creating moments of pure joy and comfort. She was a remarkable woman who raised 11 children and was the matriarch to over 115 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her stories and wisdom were as much a part of those summers as the food and laughter.
Those afternoons, filled with the simplicity and love that only grandparents can provide, are cherished memories that shaped who I am today. The garden, the laughter, and the love in my grandmother’s eyes are treasures that I carry with me always.
