Hi Maria Fernanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello my name is Maria Fernanda and Im a Fashion model and Fashion content creator based in New York, I started my modeling career back in Mexico and I have always been a lover of fashion, so from a very young age I decided I wanted to pursue fashion and creativity as my career. Im very grateful to my parents for allowing me come to pursue this goals outside my homtetown. I think the biggest highlight in my career has been able to walk New York Fashion week as a model and also being invited as a content creator , is a moment ill always cheerish and that I think will forever be a dream come true. Looking back to everything I have been trought to get today have also been an inspiration and motivation to keep going in my creative fashion journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Defenitly is a road of perserverance and passion. This is why I feel its so important to do something you love and really makes you happy in life. So you can be motivated and disciplined every day because dedication , perserverance and passion its the key of succes. Also finding influencers in the same filed as you that inspire you its really important since whenever youre feeling down or discouraged its always nice to find other influencers that you admire so you can use them as inspiration to keep growing in this industry, but never forget to keep your essence in the social media market, since its easy to get lead by the trends and sometimes loose yourself to fit in , but you have to remember always be yourself and bring your own light to shine.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Im a content creator and fashion model, I always wanted to work in fashion and creativity because I feel thats on my veins since a very young age, I have always been drawn to the creative path like the arts, fashion , film and communication I felt I could be my best self and the creative field matches my personality very well,Theres nothing like the feeling of happiness and satisfaccion to be pursuing what you love and makes you happy. It was a life risk to move abroad to pursue the creative path and risk it everything for your dreams but at the end off the day thats what life is about. Since Im on the Fashion field a moment that im so proud in my career is participating in NYFW as a model and as content creator , New York Fashion Week is one of the biggest events in the fashion world so im very proud and grateful to have made it there and as well to be featured in magazines about my journey , is everything I could I have dreamed.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I feel Networking is everything in this Industry, so to get to places network is key. From connecting to designers , to casting directors, to other models and creatives you never know when the next opportunity for yourself is next. As well always be seeking to casting opportunitys, putting yourself out there and making a name for yourself on social media, ans being kind to every people in the industry you meet I feel its very important, kindness is everything. I feel also becoming friends with oyher models or creators can lead you to meet more amazing industry people and get yourself notice. But overall hardwork and dedication will always pay off, and the right opportunity will always align your way when the moment is necessary.
