Rising Stars: Meet Winston Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Winston Wilson.

Winston Wilson

Hi Winston, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Winston Archibald. Wilson is a writer, producer, entrepreneur, and public speaker based in Atlanta, GA. He is the founder of the nonprofit organization The Rising Tide Charity, which focuses on giving voice to creativity during times of stress and distress.[2] His passion lies in bringing people together through challenging situations and forming great works that transform humanity into greatness through purpose and creativity.

## Theatre and Writing

Wilson is an avid playwright and novelist. His play “SuperLoser” explores the theme of unrealized creativity and the pain of loved ones moving on without fulfilling their creative potential. The play has been performed in Marietta, Georgia. His novel “The Family Superior,” set for release in February 2025, delves into the question “What constitutes a family?” within a supernatural or unique environment. Wilson’s stories often center around people coming together after divisive events, as seen in his play “Jet Blacks,” where friends must unite after a virus impacts their goals.

## **Lyrics**

“LYRICS” is a stage play written by Winston A. Wilson that will premiere on August 30th at the Southwest Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of the 13th annual Atlanta Black Theatre Festival.[2]

In the play, Wilson explores the power of storytelling and how the stories we create can find their time and space. He emphasizes the importance of sharing these stories, as evident in his plea: “I tell people that the stories we create will find their time and space. I’m thankful to the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival for allowing us to share our story with you.”

Wilson invites audiences to join him and the production team for the premiere of “LYRICS” on August 30th at the Southwest Arts Center in Atlanta. This opportunity allows them to present their creative work and share their story with the community through the powerful medium of theatre.[3] Wilson’s passion for storytelling and his belief in the transformative power of creativity shine through in this highly anticipated production.

## Community Engagement

Through The Rising Tide Charity, Wilson hosts a bimonthly podcast showcasing creatives operating in their purpose.[2] He aims to create an environment where filmmakers, theatre lovers, and creatives can produce content that positively impacts humanity. Wilson’s website (http://winstonawilson.com) serves as a platform for sharing his life stories, educational sessions, articles on leadership, time management, and personal development, as well as recordings of theatre productions, podcasts, and webinars.[2]

## Public Speaking

As a public speaker, Wilson shares understandable frameworks for audience members to apply immediately after his talks. He has had the opportunity to share his messages with moderately sized audiences and looks forward to speaking worldwide in the future. Wilson’s speaking engagements align with his purpose of serving his community by improving everyone’s life around him through the talents and passion he possesses. I share my journey battling an autoimmune disease (Multiple Sclerosis) and growing up in New York as an immigrant from Jamaica.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve faced significant challenges while battling Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a neurological disease I was diagnosed in 2020. Despite the obstacles posed by this condition, I’ve persevered in my creative endeavors with remarkable resilience and determination. Here are three emotional bullet points that highlight the challenges I’ve had to overcome:

– **Grappling with Fatigue**: MS fatigue is a debilitating symptom that can be challenging to explain. The overwhelming exhaustion and lack of energy can severely impact my ability to pursue creative projects, write, or engage in public speaking engagements, which are integral to my passion and purpose.

– **Navigating Uncertainty**: Living with a chronic condition like MS brings a constant sense of uncertainty and unpredictability. I have had moments of emotional turmoil, questioning how the disease’s progression might affect my future, creative aspirations, and ability to inspire others throughout my life.

– **Maintaining Perseverance**: Despite the physical and emotional toll of MS, I’ve demonstrated perseverance in continuing to create and share my stories with the world. Pushing through the challenges posed by this condition requires immense mental fortitude, an unwavering commitment to artistic vision, and a desire to positively impact humanity.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets my work apart is his ability to infuse personal experiences and challenges into his storytelling. My battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has become a driving force behind my creative endeavors. Rather than allowing MS to hinder my aspirations, I’ve channeled his struggles into his writing, using his plays and novels as a means to explore themes of resilience, unity, and the transformative power of creativity during times of hardship.
