Today we’d like to introduce you to Latrice Pace
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born into a family of industry professionals. I started singing with my sisters after I graduated from high school. Not long after that my sister Shun went solo and I began traveling with her as her road manager/personal assistant. Serving her landed me where I am today with 30 plus years of doing urban plays, Gospel music and musical theatre.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Numerous obstacles and challenges existed. The main one was self-doubt. Once I allowed God to talk to me about how He sees me, I could embrace my God identity and then write and release my music and my sound.
As an independent artist, you deal with the challenges and obstacles of funding everything independently. There was a lot of stop-and-go and piece milling but with excellence.
As a participant in life, I dealt with the challenges and obstacles of divorce, self-loathing, health challenges, self-worth, loss, and compounded grief.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a serial entrepreneur. I currently sing, act, write, and bake. Many people may be familiar with my culinary business, Treecie Treats. In addition, people would know me best from singing with my sisters, The Anointed Pace Sisters, as well as playing the role of Nurse Nancy in the Tyler Perry production of What’s Done in the Dark.
I’m currently most proud of my portrayal of Celie in Actir’s Express production of The Color Purple and my two 2024 Stellar nominations.
I believe that when we are authentically true to ourselves, it automatically sets us apart. I’m focused on always evolving and authentically becoming and being.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Focus on your race and your assignment. Appreciate those who appreciate you, and don’t give energy to those who don’t; it’s a distraction.
Do multiple motive checks with everything you do: before, during, and after.
Hire people with your kindred spirit as you, people who can handle business and be kind.
You will not be loved by all, but don’t allow that to change your love for all.
