Hi Core, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
DJ HERSHEY” is a world renowned Atlanta based DJ whose presence is known widely as the famed CORE DJ who provides not just music, but an entire experience. Specializing in Old School and R&B, his experiences take partygoers on a fantastic voyage through decades of chart-topping hits and remixes them with the hot 100 of today. His career has spanned over four decades and thus his music knowledge and his connections have extreme reach. Chicago born and bred, DJ Hershey climbed the ranks of the nightclub scene to garner the respect and trust of Chicago’s music elite. From there he formed partnerships with anll major record labels and, producing tracks for their artists as well as further cementing his stronghold in this music game. Now, DJ Hershey is one of the most sought after DJs for event planners who want to bring the realest vibe to their music conferences, day parties, release parties, conventions and more. DJ Hershey prides himself on discovering new and independent talent and champions those that are making a way for themselves, just as he once did. As a father, DJ Hershey understands the effect music has on the next generation and the importance of cultivating an experience for groups of varying ages. He mixes the old with the new, and spins with purpose to create a sound that is unmatched. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey as a creative has not been easy. There has been loved ones who were only present for selfish gain who created unwarranted hurdles in my progression. Deaths of iconic beings in my life who have unexpectedly passed away. And opportunistic souls who long for the access in this industry I have and attempt to set land mines to cover their tracks of manipulation and corruption
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I am known for mostly you can find in my name itself as a DJ. Curator of the music experience like a scientist in a lab. And within the last decade, a talented actor, writer, producer and Director.
I am most proud of being a father! I have two daughters who have grown to be amazing souls walking this earth.
What sets me apart from most is connection. I am approachable, kind hearted and passionate of the human race who gives 10 fold more then I receive looking for no praise just respect.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding mentors in this generation is very unnerving but not impossible. I always suggest do your research, observe and pray. There are many people who have the silver tongue gift, pose and practice facades that do not exist knowing many won’t fact check. Don’t rush, take time and observe
