Today we’d like to introduce you to Lady J
Hi Lady , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2017, I founded E.G.O. Entertainment, a multi-award-winning multimedia production and service company, in Indianapolis, IN. With a vision to create a positive influence through media, I established five divisions: JQLM Radio, E.G.O. Magazine, EGO Group (PR & Management), EGO News, and EGO TV. These divisions collectively aimed to provide the highest levels of listener satisfaction, support businesses through advertising and event services, and deliver unparalleled media coverage.
My journey in media began in 2015, following years of entrepreneurial ventures and community service. My diverse talents and dedication led me to build and rebuild organizational structures for various businesses, earning degrees in Business Management and Psychology along the way. By 2010, I had already started my first business, and by 2017, I had launched multiple other successful ventures. My personal story of overcoming obstacles inspired many, and my speaking engagements across the United States opened doors to numerous radio and television opportunities.
In 2016, I became the CEO of a radio media platform, quickly growing its reach to over 200,000 listeners in more than 66 countries within just eight months. Recognizing the potential of media to spread positive and empowering messages, I leveraged my success to launch E.G.O. Entertainment.
As I continued to expand my network and influence, I saw an opportunity to extend E.G.O.’s reach even further.
In 2024, I made Atlanta my second home, traveling monthly to complete production projects, events, and media coverage for clients and organizations in the region. Atlanta’s vibrant cultural scene and thriving media industry presented the perfect environment for E.G.O. Entertainment to establish a second location in the United States to expand it’s mission. My presence in Atlanta allowed me to better serve clients in the Southeast, offering a supportive platform for creatives, professionals, and organizations.
Today, E.G.O. Entertainment continues to thrive, building relationships and providing access to spaces and resources that help individuals and brands achieve their dreams. With a heart for people and a dedication to spreading positive content, E.G.O. Entertainment is poised to leave an indelible mark on the media landscape, both nationally and globally.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There have been many challenges along the way. I have encountered financial challenges while building the business. I believe in quality over quantity and that greatness takes time so I approached it like a marathon and not a sprint. With E.G.O. Entertainment Network being my third business I launched after Life Support Company LLC and No Limits MInistry Inc., both still successful brands, I already knew what it would take to build as far as organizational structure. I had to research and tweak the operational structure of the company and that led to me realizing I had to get very creative with how I funded it. I started with what I had and worked my way up and continued to add more funds little by little to keep expanding. This included equipment, software, marketing, and more. I was determined to not go into business in debt and without investors or loans.
There were times I had to shut down and then re-open due to health issues which caused me to have to play catch up. Other challenges include things like encountering people that steal from you, so-called partners receiving the benefits of my platform but not delivering on their end, and even have experienced team players that jumped shipped but…. every challenge has been a setup to jump even higher to the next level.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our company’s reputation for stellar service, including pre-event promotional interviews, red-carpet coordination, and live media coverage, soon attracted high-profile events and celebrities. E.G.O. Entertainment covered renowned figures like Sheryl Underwood, Marvin Sapp, and Michael Colyar, and prestigious events such as The Oscars and The Stellar Awards.
E.G.O. Entertainment’s motto, “Everyone is a Star,” reflects my belief in providing opportunities and access to resources for all. I decided that E.G.O. would create the relationships to benefit the partner in addition to everyone we serve. I decided that I would become the “red tape” to make it easier for the underdogs to gain access to the opportunities they either can’t afford or feel like it is not in their reach. My passion for building communities and helping brands grow is evident in every project we undertake.
We provide production services, hosting and coordinating events, advertising and marketing, public relations, talent management, a platform for creatives to deliver their messages through radio, TV, magazine, and more.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When looking for a mentor, look for someone who has experienced both the challenges and successes you have so they can identify with you and your work. They can offer insight and practical tools for you to continue to grow as you overcome the obstacles you face.
When networking, make sure you have something beneficial to offer the individuals and lead with that. Don’t always look for what you can get, but what you can give. Make it your goal to create synergy.
