Today, we’d like to introduce you to Joanna Thomas.
Hi Joanna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started as a kid model and quickly fell in love with acting. Standing in front of the camera has never left my heart and soul. No surprise, after graduating from high school, I auditioned for an Acting School and was accepted!
After a short amount of time, I realized that I needed a different path. I did start and actually finished Musical School in Hamburg/Germany. After coming to the US and orientating/settling in, I went quickly to have training in acting. Modeling worked out very well for my family and me, although we had children in between!
Full vulnerability: I did wish to start a job behind the camera. Sitting in the hair and makeup chair for my own photo shoot, I was offered an assistant job by a wonderful and successful Atlanta-based photographer.
Fast forward: I started my own photography business in 2023, shooting children of all ages! I still model with my biggest passion and heart. Acting is constantly on my agenda, I’m well-rounded around the camera!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think my biggest opponent along the road was myself. I have always criticized myself, and I had to learn that my view is right but not perfect. This simple realization changed my entire view of things and the world, and I am now able to walk with more ease and grace.
Not every day but most of the days! It took me a while and I am glad I was able to change my perception, and ultimately my reaction which affected my handling heavily. Thanks God, for the better.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am into modeling, acting, and photography! Please do not make me decide. I love to support people and make them feel good. Good pictures usually do that. Being an advocate or maybe simply a messenger by sharing my experience and knowledge will help one person, and I will be very satisfied with it.
Acting gives me a chance to do that. Modeling is a passion of mine, where I start to play! It is the sense and me: ACTION. It is a lot of freedom for me, and you can see my heart and soul. I do pass all of it on, and I carry that with me, too. I just hope to be able to share it with the world.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Hmm… I am so very impatient but on the job site, I am extremely patient! I do sort my gummy bears in color to eat as they all have a different taste. Anything else. I do not know.
