Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Tracy
Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I spent 16 amazing years as part of an award-winning women’s wellness center in Massachusetts. It was a fantastic experience, but in 2021, I decided it was time for a change. I took the plunge and moved my practice online, focusing on what I’m truly passionate about – supporting women through perimenopause and menopause.
I packed my bags and headed west to the beautiful Northern California wine country. Now, I work with women virtually, helping them navigate the often wild ride of hormone fluctuations that come with perimenopause and menopause.
Let’s face it, hormones can send you a wild ride – I’ve been there too. I combine my clinical know-how with my personal experience to create programs tailored to each woman’s needs. In our one-on-one sessions, I offer a compassionate ear and practical solutions to empower women over 40 to tackle those frustrating symptoms head-on.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In my teens and 20s, I struggled with irregular periods. Despite seeing medical doctors and undergoing various tests, I was continually told, “Everything looks normal.” This personal challenge naturally led me to focus on female hormones and menstrual cycles when I specialized in naturopathic medicine. I created a regimen using natural therapies, herbal medicine, and nutrition to support my hormones. However, it wasn’t until I fully embraced a 100% plant-based diet, got serious about stress management, and made sleep a priority that I finally achieved regular, monthly periods in my 30s and 40s.
On the eve of my 40th birthday, I had a moment of realization. Driving home late from my office, exhausted but excited about an upcoming surprise trip with my boyfriend Joe, I remember thinking, “When we get back from this trip, I’m going to plan a sabbatical. I need a break.” Unfortunately, this thought came too late. Following the trip, I fell into a period of burnout, experiencing months of recurrent infections, hair loss, and insomnia. Even the regular monthly cycle I had worked so hard to achieve started to become erratic. This experience was a wake-up call that forced me to re-evaluate my lifestyle, work-life balance, and my nutrition and supplement regimen.
Knowing the close relationships between stress, insomnia, and hormones, I dove deeper into understanding the causes of stress and how to manage my triggers daily. I explored the connections between these factors, which not only led to my own healing but also shaped the medical practice I have today. Although it was a really difficult time in my life, this journey of self-discovery and healing became the foundation for how I now help other women navigate their hormonal health.
My personal experience with burnout and hormonal imbalance has given me a unique perspective and deep empathy for the women I work with, allowing me to offer both professional expertise and personal understanding in my practice. And coincidently, I now live where Joe and I went on that surprise trip years ago – Northern California wine country!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dr. Amanda Tracy, ND?

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
As a holistic doctor specializing in perimenopause and menopause care through telemedicine, I’m excited about the future of our field. Over the next 5 to 10 years, I anticipate significant changes that will revolutionize how we support women during this crucial life stage.
In my practice, I’ve already seen a surge in women seeking online hormone support and treatment. I believe this trend will continue to grow exponentially. In the near future, I expect to have access to AI supported software to offer even more personalized hormone treatment plans based on remote lab testing and real-time symptom tracking. This will allow me to fine-tune treatment plans, in ways that are not overly time consuming, to ensure better outcomes for my patients
The growing interest in lifestyle and natural medicine for menopause management is close to my heart. I’m eagerly following new research on herbal supplements and phytoestrogens, as many of my patients prefer to start with natural approaches. I’m also deepening my understanding of how nutrition, exercise, and stress management impact menopausal symptoms. This knowledge allows me to develop more effective, evidence-based lifestyle intervention programs tailored to each woman’s unique needs.
As an integrative practitioner, I’m thrilled to see our approaches becoming more mainstream. I’ve always believed in the power of combining conventional and complementary therapies, and it’s gratifying to see this perspective gaining wider acceptance. In my practice, I’ve seen remarkable results from integrating mind-body practices like yoga and meditation into treatment plans. I look forward to a future where these approaches are standard in menopause care and potentially covered by insurance.
Perhaps most exciting is the trend towards patient empowerment and self-management. I’ve always strived to empower my patients, and new digital health tools are making this easier than ever. I envision a future where women can track their symptoms, perform at-home hormone testing, and actively participate in their treatment decisions. As a doctor, my role will increasingly involve interpreting this data and guiding women through their options.
In essence, I see a future where perimenopause and menopause care becomes more accessible, personalized, and holistic. As a practitioner, I’m committed to staying at the forefront of these changes, continually updating my knowledge and practices to provide the best possible care to women during this important life transition.
