Hi Jonae, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2020, I started my creative journey by using the free version of Photoshop to create flyers for my advertising management class. The amazing feedback I received from my classmates, professor, and the business department motivated me to dive deeper into graphic design. From there, I taught myself how to create YouTube intros, outros, and banners.
By 2021, I had expanded my skills to include website design and the art of branding and visual identity. This foundation led me to launch my own creative agency, Truly Elevated Agency Inc., in 2022. Alongside running the agency, I taught myself product photography to better serve my clients.
With a university background in marketing communication, I combined my formal education with my self-taught skills to offer comprehensive services under one roof. In 2023, I added videography to my repertoire, capturing video content for products and clients in person.
I created Truly Elevated Agency Inc. because I often heard from people that they wished they could get all their branding and marketing services in one place. My goal is to make that a reality and provide top-notch, all-inclusive creative services for brands. My passion for creating is so strong that I can’t imagine doing anything else.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. There were times when I doubted myself, especially when people I thought would support me told me not to do it and to pursue a stable 9-5 job instead. But my passion for creating and helping others kept me going. As an entrepreneur, there are still days when I wonder, “What am I doing?” However, the joy and fulfillment I get from creating make it all worthwhile.
Being self-taught came with its own set of challenges. There were moments in photography, design, and videography where I invested days and weeks but still didn’t achieve the desired results. Yet, I kept pushing forward and will continue to do so. Trying something new always brought a sense of fear, particularly when it came to putting my work out there for the world to see.
Showing my face on social media for the first time was a daunting step, but it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. The journey has been filled with struggles, but each one has made me stronger and more determined to succeed.
We’ve been impressed with Truly Elevated Agency, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a 25-year-old multi-faceted creative, self-taught in brand design, product photography, videography, and website design. I’m known for providing all of these services to clients under one roof, simplifying the process so they don’t have to seek out multiple agencies or creatives. What sets me apart is this comprehensive approach, making it easier for clients to manage their branding and marketing needs seamlessly.
I’m most proud of building my brand organically. Without relying on paid ads, I’ve grown through consistent effort—posting content, email marketing, being a guest speaker at business conferences, and being invited to teach classes. It’s incredibly rewarding to help other entrepreneurs and business owners understand the importance of branding and marketing for their brands.

For those who have just started their entrepreneurial journey or are considering taking the leap, I want to share something with you: If you are truly passionate about something, go for it. I was told not to pursue this path and faced rejection from jobs because I was deemed “not good enough” or lacking experience. Instead of letting those setbacks define me, I decided to create my own way.
Trust in your passion and abilities, and don’t be afraid to carve out your own path. The road may be challenging, but the rewards of following your dreams are worth every step. Believe in yourself and keep pushing forward!
