I come from a family of designers. My mom has been an interior designer in her small town for over 30 years, and many of my aunts are designers. Growing up, I was always redecorating different rooms of the house, and that grew to design spaces for friends’ houses. From there, my clientele grew, so I decided to turn my passion into a profession and started KD Designs. When I was 23, I designed my first commercial space in Houston, TX, and decided to expand my horizons to not only residential but commercial proprieties, too.
A few years later, I took a leap of faith and relocated to Atlanta, GA, where I now create exceptional residential and commercial interiors. While there, I was given the opportunity to join the world of reality TV. From this experience, I gained the skill of coming up with solutions quickly and under pressure. As a well-known designer in my community, I love creating a space where loved ones, family, and friends can come together and make lasting memories.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road; however, the biggest strength you can have is the ability to pivot and keep a positive attitude. In design, there is never one right answer. As a designer, it is your job to determine what answer is right for your client.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an interior designer, my unique skill is that I have the ability to work with anyone at any stage of life and meet them right where they are.
From cozy starter apartments to luxurious investment properties, I have the expertise to guide you through the design process and create a space that reflects your unique lifestyle. I am most known for tailoring my design for each individual client. I can take their ideas and bring them to life in a way that exceeds their expectations.
What do you think about happiness?
The freedom to work on my dreams and having a part in fulfilling other people’s dreams every day brings me happiness.
Being a mom to my daughter, who already shows a love for design, brings me immense joy. Witnessing the same passion I have for design in her fills my heart and fuels my creativity.
