Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashad Jones-Jennings
Hi Rashad , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I retired from professional basketball in 2015 at the age of 30 due to injury. I knew that my time to retire was coming so I got my real estate license and play for one more season. I started out as a realtor and they worked my way over to the investing side. I started flipping homes and building single family homes. Once I was building new construction homes I figured that I could build a community of homes and that’s what I did. So now I build tiny homes, townhomes, and single family homes. Soon to be building commercial and industrial. We currently have all of the sites for these developments. I just launched my $10 Million Athlete Investment Fund and that will fund our deals meanwhile creating, maintaining, and increasing wealth of athletes around the world. I have about 40 acres and $50 Million in development in the pipeline currently.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it hasn’t been a smooth road. I grew up in the hood. The real hood, not the internet hood. It was times we came home from school and mom would tell us to iron our clothes for the week because the lights were going to be off until Friday. I remember in the 6th grade the bottom of my shoe was open because it was worn out and we didn’t have the money for new shoes so I tapped them. Nothing has been easy but going through that made me into the savage that I am today. If you ever seen me play basketball you’ll see the aggression and passion come out. It made me tough. As far as real estate goes, I didn’t do my first deal for 6 months which was unexpected so I was burning through my savings plus I was living as if I was still playing professional basketball and getting a check for it but I was not. I started an after school program to supplement my non existent real estate income at the time. But the after school program was such a success it helped me get my real estate marketing going. From there I was able to sell more homes and get into flipping homes to finally get to the investor column. Things haven’t always been smooth but that’s where you learn the lessons and that’s where growth occurs.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Post Pro Capital ?
At Post Pro Capital we are a real estate development & investment firm. With development being our main source of development we also invest in sports tech companies such as HUUPE as well as innovative real estate companies like BOXABL. Our investment strategy is to make 2 significant investments per year on companies, businesses, and/or startups outside of our typical real estate developments. We just launched a $10 Million Fund for Athletes to invest in to create, maintain, & grow their wealth.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as getting up everyday and not hating or dreading what you do. For some people they want to grow the biggest business and that’s success to them; for others they may simply want to become a teacher and teach kids and that’s success to them. Success looks different for different people. It’s all about what you want.
