Community Highlights: Meet Abigail Gonzalez of Beauty by Abby- Makeup

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Gonzalez

Hi Abigail, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Abby & I’ve had love for makeup since I was 13 when I found out what mascara and eyeliner was. I then got a little more into learning about other products as I got older. I’d say YouTube back then was what really taught me more about makeup and all the endless ways of applying it. I would watch tutorials any chance I could and learn from all the makeup influencers. I then would collect products and would do my friends makeup just for fun or for any event they had. I looked at it more as a hobby then a career back then. Fast forward years later, I’m now a mom of 2 and want to spend as much time I can with my kids so with the push and support of my husband I began my own makeup business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d say it’s been smooth for the most part. Even though it is a saturated business , I’ve been blessed to get booked by ladies that see my work and trust it when there are many other talented makeup artist out there to choose from.

As you know, we’re big fans of Beauty by Abby- Makeup. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’ve created my own makeup business, Beauty by Abby. Specializing in Soft and Full Glam, along with Bridal and Special Event makeup. I am self taught , and over the years I’ve learned about different products and techniques that play a huge role on the outcome of a makeup look. I feel what sets me aside from other artist, is I take criticism well , if in case a client doesn’t necessarily like something about their makeup or if they want to change something. I take everything they say into consideration so they have the best experience and feel the most beautiful.
I am very proud of how well my first year in business has been going. I’m constantly trying to learn new techniques, and also ways on how to keep growing my business.

I offer makeup services in my home but I also travel anywhere in the metro Atlanta area. I would say being a traveling artist is more beneficial in the eyes of a client which is why I am open to going to them when services are needed.

What does success mean to you?
I define success by putting in the work. Meaning, constantly learning new skills, putting yourself in uncomfortable situations to be able to grow and never stop perfecting your craft. Also putting yourself in the clients shoes will help you realize what needs more work. If the work is put in , you and your business will become successful.
