Life & Work with Haley Kuller of Cumming, Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Kuller

Hi Haley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was younger, I would spend hours meticulously putting together photo albums and scrapbooks for myself and everyone in my life to enjoy looking through. I’ve taken pictures of just about everything around me for as long as I can remember – my phone actively has 45,504 photos and 5,540 videos on it. Preserving memories has always been important to me throughout my entire life, so much so that one of my earliest gifts from my grandparents was a first-gen digital camera.

For a long time, I’ve done commercial photography for my fiancé and I’s marketing company, but as we began to research wedding photography and get our own engagement photos done, something clicked for me.

I’m a lifelong artist so seeing things creatively has always come natural to me. I always knew I wanted to bring that creative outlook into a career that truly makes an impact. I absolutely love documentary style photos and themed shoots, especially when they’re paired with cinematic music that emanates the same feeling. Really just anything that highlights the beautiful emotions and experiences of being human. My goal is to create that same type of warm, indescribable feeling and connection for others when they look at their pictures. I love creating something that transports people back to some of their best days, gives them confidence, makes them FEEL, and the biggest thing – something that will last for generations to come.

I realized that my entire life I’ve captured so many moments for myself and other people in a casual setting, yet I never thought to carry that into a career. Crazy. So I made the move and here I am today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say for the most part it’s luckily been a smooth road. The biggest thing is competition. Obviously photography is an extremely saturated market, there’s 100’s of photographers within a 20 mile radius. There’s of course always someone that can do it better, but the goal for me at least is to offer the most value. The client experience from booking to delivery, location planning, photo quality and composition, care and excitement, comfort level, and accessibility for my clients are all aspects of my business I strive to consistently deliver on.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a North Georgia-based portrait and wedding photographer that specializes in documentary style, true-to-color photography. A characteristic I’m most proud of and have incorporated into my photography business is my sense of adventure. I will hike, get on a sailboat, fly, or drive wherever clients want their photos to take place because I LOVE a unique backdrop. I’m constantly thinking of new session themes and ideas to the point where I have a running list prepared for anyone that will listen. I’m most proud of my dedication. The thought that I put into my processes and photos before, during, and after my sessions might be overwhelming for some, but I consider each session I do an art project that transitions from concept to display much like a painting or movie. I love the impact made by well-crafted photos. It is truly and deeply fulfilling to me.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I spend A LOT of time on Pinterest researching session ideas and I keep up with a ton of super talented photographers on Instagram that I believe have paved the way towards what photography has become today.
