Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Woods
Hi Candice, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always liked to read books. When I was a little girl I used to read books over and over. I also used to write short stories and include my family members and close friends in the books. I stopped as I got older. Then back in 2021 one of my coworkers was talking about multiple streams of income. I told him I would like to have another source of income as well. But I told him I didn’t know how to do many things. So then he asked me what my hobby was or what I liked to do. I told him I like to read and write. Then he told me I should write a book. At the time I didn’t think much about it. Instead I prayed for God to send me signs or to show me a sign if this is what he wanted me to do. So I started seeing signs. I saw different publishing companies on commercials. I saw different movies dealing with authors. So I sat down and wrote five children’s books in a month. Then I submitted my very first one, “Christina’s Pen Pal”, to a publishing company and they accepted it. So that book was published in April of 2022. Then my second book “Alivia’s Curly Hair” is getting published in London as we speak. Then last September I finish my first romance at 97, 947 words. I am looking to get a literary agent for it. By the fall I am going to write a Christmas book helping people to deal with grief over the holidays. I think I have a gift. And it’s the gift of writing. I have so many book ideas. I also have finished the second part to “Christina’s Pen Pal”. I am hoping to turn it into a children’s mini series movie. I also went to a talk show in New York to talk about my children’s book. I was very honored to do that.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been smooth sailing until last year when I lost my dad in the middle of the romance novel. I almost gave up on it, but something told me that he would want me to finish it. He died in July of last year. I finished the novel after Labor Day weekend in September of last year.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Author, YouTuber, Travel Agent, Actor and Model. I am very ambitious. What sets me apart from others is that when I say I am going to do something, I do it. I always work hard on my dreams. I am proud of my work and my dedication.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To be consistent. If you don’t have that you won’t get anything done.
