Today we’d like to introduce you to Tan Dang
Hi Tan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Vietnam, and my family immigrated to America in 1994 when I was three years old. While my early memories are hazy, I vividly recall always being outside and staying active.
My parents worked two to three jobs to provide better opportunities for their children, and through their efforts, I gained a firsthand understanding of what hard work truly means.
Growing up, I had a passion for sports and being very competitive. I started swimming in elementary school, played football and basketball in middle school, and took up volleyball in high school.
Upon graduating high school, I accepted a scholarship to Thomas University, where I swam for four years and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business. During this time, I also achieved the distinction of becoming an All-American athlete/swimmer.
After graduating from college and returning home, I transitioned from swimming to weight training, which quickly became a new passion. This newfound strength significantly enhanced my performance in volleyball, allowing me to record a remarkable 42-inch vertical jump in 2019—an uncommon feat for someone standing 5’9″ to 5’10”.
My love for weight training and volleyball led me to a coaching position in Strength & Conditioning at Tsunami Volleyball in Atlanta, GA. At Tsunami, I help athletes improve their volleyball skills, increase their strength, enhance their speed, jump higher, and prevent injuries.
I am passionate about what I do and wouldn’t change it for anything. My goal is to assist as many athletes as possible, and I am off to a great start. Every athlete and client I have worked with has made progress, and their satisfaction with their results fuels my love for this profession.
“Building Life-Long Athletes” is my mission, and I am committed to making it a reality.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My biggest obstacle/challenge right now would be opening my own gym, a place where I can share my knowledge through training/coaching.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
