Hi Jess, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into blogging and sharing my style began in 2007 while I was in college, modeling for a vintage eBay shop. Inspired by bloggers worldwide, I carved out my own space on the internet with my blog, www.ladyflashback.com, which still occasionally gets updated. However, over the years, through many changes in branding and vibes, I’ve predominantly focused on Instagram @jess___winchester
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since it’s always been just for fun, it’s been a pretty smooth ride! Starting out, I felt pressure to always update my wardrobe with new pieces, but over time I’ve built a capsule wardrobe around neutral colors. It has not only helped with frivolous spending but also been a lot more sustainable. I’ve definitely learned not to take things too seriously and to simply enjoy the sparks of joy it brings.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In my free time, I share my personal style and travels on Instagram. My aesthetic can best be described as neutrals with the occasional pop of color. I’m also a freelance photographer, capturing events, engagements, products, and graduations, and I’m always open to trying out new ideas. I’m most proud of keeping it up after all these years and my collaborations with brands like West Elm, Williams Sonoma, and Oprah Magazine, featuring my photos.
What makes you happy?
Being creative makes me happy. Throughout my career in marketing and technology, I’ve used this outlet as my form of art. I enjoy learning new editing apps, teaching myself new techniques, and keeping up with trends.
Additionally, I find joy in connecting and inspiring people who share my passion for style, making them laugh through my content, and embracing the opportunities and collaborations that come with it.
