Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shonivia Edwards.
Hi Shonivia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey, beautiful people!! My name is Shonivia! I am the CEO and owner of Z’Nor Avenue! I started my very first boutique in 2020 and I haven’t looked back since. I started this boutique out of true obedience of God’s word and direction to uplift, build, inspire women through fashion.
I was in a weird space after having my daughter in 2019, and I didn’t like the way that felt. I needed to get out of a funk, so I did it. I was inspired, and so were the women I was assigned to in this industry, so, three and a half years later, I’m still here. I’m still here, inspiring one woman at a time. I think it’s important for women to truly own who they are. Flaws and all.
Embrace your true beauty, and KNOW your worth! Understanding and knowing your worth can come across as so cliche, but when you really understand who you are and your worth, you don’t allow anyone to de-value “YOU” in any capacity! “SPEAK UP,” “LEAD UP,” and LIVE UP” to those values! This means in relationships, friendships, and within your family. Don’t allow toxic interactions to live in your sacred space. This is a true Z’Nor Queen…
So you know a little about me. I’m a licensed minister and an ordained prophet of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love God. He means everything to me. I’m the author of “Seconds Away From Death, But God”. I graduated with my Associate’s degree, bachelor’s, and two master’s degrees, so I’m a forever student! lol
I have a daughter, her name is Zora and she’s four. My niece Tay whom I raised and she’s 22. I love to laugh, travel, and enjoy life and positive energy with the people I’m connected with. I’m a total Disney person! Lol, I believe in the fairytale. Your own. Imperfect, that is.
Z’Nor Avenue is my baby, so if you want to know more, continue to follow our journey as we continue to grow and inspire every curvy girl to LIVE loud! LIVE Bold! And confidence in who God has created you to be.
I threw the towel back a million times, but he kept throwing it right back. The moral of the story is “Keep going,” and it gets better.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road! Actually, it’s pretty rocky! Lol, but I’ve learned so much, so in due time, this rocky road will smooth out into my purpose!
I didn’t think the road would be easy, but I definitely didn’t think it would be this difficult. However, I’m more appreciative of the wisdom I have gained through every hurdle I’ve had to climb, run, and jump over.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I’ve been in retail my entire life, and I’ve managed Fortune 500 companies for almost two decades, so I definitely have a ton of knowledge.
My biggest hurdle has been marketing, but the start-up, execution, and figuring out the other tough things in the business I seem to nail quickly. I operate in excellence no matter how small the project is.
I’m a natural-born, passionate leader who authentically cares for people. This is what sets me apart.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was full of energy, very optimistic, and full of light.
I believed anything was possible no matter who you are or what you had. I was a cheer leader, so my energy matched perfectly! I was very driven and I worked hard to gain every win, grade, or opportunity I was given.
