Conversations with Omar Altalib

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Omar Altalib.

omar altalib

Hi Omar, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my life as a consultant during high school. I would meet with the leaders of non-profit organizations and give them advice. I felt that my viewpoint was relevant because I was speaking honestly as a participant and an observer.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My most important struggles involve convincing clients that my advice will add value to their organizations. Most leaders are hesitant to make changes, especially when the change is being proposed by someone from outside the organization.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am senior knowledge engineer. That means the following: Providing the right information to the right person at the right time in the right format. I belong to a field in business called: Knowledge Management.

Most people know very little about knowledge management. The most successful people have learned about knowledge management the hard way (through trial and error). I try to bring the best practices in knowledge management to those who can use it to improve their organizations.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very precocious youngster who had a great thirst for knowledge. I subscribed to a monthly magazine for children that was focused on science.

I also read stories in children’s magazines that involved scientists and explorers. I was also infatuated with detective series (Encyclopedia Brown; Sherlock Holmes; Nancy Drew).
