Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Collins.
Hi Victor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my very first job at McDonald’s, and this was the job that taught me a lot about the foundational principles of working with a lot of different types of people. I worked this job in high school and then went to college afterward. I integrated very well socially into meeting even more dynamic people. I developed some skill sets and the courage to go after what I wanted, and it also helped me understand business. From here, I knew some form of entrepreneurship was in my future.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
It’s a rough road. Balancing the financial commitment, creating and finding good leverage, and understanding business economics and marketing strategy while building a brand has been challenging. In business, you have to define and sell your vision to others, so the most challenging thing is learning how to do this within your sphere of influence so that they can help push and promote your service.
We’ve been impressed with Hounds Town Atlanta—Smyrna, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a doggy daycare, boarding, and pet spa facility. I started this business after struggling to find a place I trusted to leave my dog. We create a space for pet parents to socialize their dogs safely and cleanly while enriching their well-being under supervised care and specialized play groups. I am proud to say this is my first franchise, and I aim to have a few more! We offer a service if you are looking for a place during the day for your pet to be entertained or overnight while you travel.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Balance. When you own a business, you can become consumed by the day-to-day operations, and if you love what you do, it’s innocent. You should take time for yourself and stay charged up.
