Rising Stars: Meet Mike Zevitas of Roswell GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Zevitas

Hi Mike, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Woodworking has been a part of my life since childhood, when I eagerly learned the craft alongside my grandfather, crafting countless projects together. Those early experiences ignited a passion that lay dormant for years until circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic reignited my interest. Inheriting my grandfather’s cherished tools became a catalyst, prompting me to revisit woodworking with newfound enthusiasm. Since then, I’ve immersed myself in the craft, creating everything from cutting boards to bespoke furniture pieces. Each creation not only hones my skills but also honors the legacy passed down to me, making every project a meaningful journey of craftsmanship and connection. After having my son, I decided to name the company after him to continue the legacy. Now we provide the the Atlanta area with beautifully crafted pieces.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building LMZ Designs has been a fairly smooth road, with occasional speed bumps along the way. As we continue to grow, our focus now shifts towards expanding the reach of LMZ, exploring innovative marketing strategies to attract more clients and increase our sales. We aim to not only showcase our craftsmanship but also establish a stronger presence in the market, ensuring that each piece we create finds its rightful place in the homes and hearts of our customers.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Woodworking has become a deeply fulfilling outlet for my creativity, complementing a lifetime of artistic expression that began in my early years as a professional musician. Crafting each piece is not just a job but a passion project where I can channel my inventive spirit into tangible forms. Whether it’s designing intricate patterns for cutting boards or conceptualizing unique furniture pieces, woodworking allows me to explore new dimensions of creativity and craftsmanship.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was naturally drawn to fixing things and solving problems—a visual learner who thrived on instinctively figuring out how things worked. Whether it was tinkering with gadgets around the house or tackling DIY projects, I found joy in unraveling challenges and finding creative solutions. This problem-solving knack became ingrained in my approach to woodworking, where each project presents a new puzzle to solve and an opportunity to apply my visual learning skills.
