Daily Inspiration: Meet Paul Owe

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Paul Owe.

Paul Owe

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started creating funny content online when Vine came out of the app. Nobody was paying me any mind in the beginning, but a few months after posting consistently, one random video blew up & I’ve been hooked ever since.

As time passed, other social media platforms started adding the option to post a video, so I would repost my old Vine videos to gain more traction on other apps. My consistency has enabled me to stay relevant online for about a decade now & gain over a quarter million followers across multiple social media platforms.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been far from smooth. The hardest part about creating content is seeing negative comments from people who don’t follow you.

Early on, I’d be in defense mode once a video of mine started to gain more traction than usual because I knew randoms would start giving their 2 cents in my comments & I’d be deleting or responding to every hateful or judgmental comment I received. Nowadays, I barely pay them any mind.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with your work?
I currently make content & run a clothing brand, Owé Collections.

I started this brand in 2019 as a general luxury streetwear brand, but now I am focused on creating pieces that promote the African diaspora & push our culture forward.

I’m most proud of being bold & naming my brand after my last name. It warms my heart to see thousands of people rocking my merchandise with my name on it.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about ATL is the abundant amount of opportunities for creatives & entrepreneurs.

What I dislike the most is how many people are selling dreams to keep up an image that they feel like they need to have while living in the city.
