Today we’d like to introduce you to Irvin Barnett

Hi Irvin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My Dad, Irvin Barnett, Jr. started his construction company 46 years ago. When I was a child I used to go to work for him in the summers doing site cleanup. At a young age I never realized the foundation my father was instilling in me. When I graduated high school and went to college, my father never pressured me into working in the family business. He encouraged me to get a degree and pursue my passion as a corporate investigator. After 8 years of working in Corporate America as a corporate investigator, I left the field and went to work for my father’s company. I ran the day to day operations under his company for years while soaking up all the knowledge I could from him. I was able to see the gift God gave him in this industry. I never appreciated his value to the construction industry until working for him. A lot of his colleagues referred to him as “Master Builder,” because he knew everything. In 2021 my father retired and I started my own company, Barnett Construction Consulting And Management. God blessed me from that point on and allowed the business to thrive exponentially.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to being a successful entrepreneur owning Barnett Construction Consulting And Management has had its challenges along the way. The construction field can be very intimidating if you don’t know what you are doing. Additionally, it takes a tremendous amount of God’s favor to defy some of the negative stereotypes about new businesses. By the grace of God I have my father as a mentor, guide, and consultant to lesson the struggles the business and I have faced. I am thankful because not all new entrepreneurs have the luxury of having that consistent support system.
